Battalion Chief Mike Gallagher

Battalion Chief Mike Gallagher
Michael Gallagher started his fire service career in 1987 with the US Forest Service, working the '87 and '88 seasons on the Los Padres National Forest as part of the Sundowners Hand Crew and as an engine crewman at the San Marcos Pass Fire Station. Upon moving to Tahoe in January 1990, Mike volunteered at Squaw Valley Fire Department, ultimately rising to fulltime Captain, and left the mountains in 2003, after thirteen years with Squaw Valley FD and the 1990 and '91 seasons with the US Forest Service in Truckee. He served as a Captain for Cambria Fire Department from May 2003 until December 2011, before making the jump to Carpinteria-Summerland FPD as a Battalion Chief in January 2012. Battalion Chief Gallagher also serves on the County Hazardous Material Response Team and CSFD's Surf Rescue Team.

He lives in Santa Barbara with his pit bull, Annabella, and his coyote-mix, Frankie. Mike can be found every day off at Hendry's Beach or the Douglas Preserve, surfing the Ranch or secret spots in Northern Baja, and reveling in everything this wonderful area has to offer.
