History

The "official" formation of the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District was June 15, 1934, with a 50th About us Historicanniversary celebration held in 1984. The District covers over 40 square miles from the Pacific Ocean to extreme elevations in the Los Padres National Forest, and from Rincon Creek at the Santa Barbara County/Ventura County line to Ortega Hill.

In addition to the traditional responsibilities of firefighting, many of today’s Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District safety personnel are trained as emergency medical technicians, CPR instructors, prevention officers, hazardous materials specialists, arson investigators, heavy-duty rescue specialists, homeland security measures and wildland abatement experts.

The stations are manned 24 hours, 7 days a week.
