FIRE CHIEFS COUNTY WIDE DECLARE END OF HIGH FIRE SEASON

 On Monday December 14^th the Fire Chiefs Association of Santa Barbara County will formally declare an end to what has become to be known as High Fire Season. This declaration will allow for some jurisdictions to begin to issue Hazardous Vegetation Reduction Burn Permits. Hazardous Vegetation Reduction Burn Permits are allowed in some areas and not others. Check with your local Fire Department to receive more information on local restrictions.

 National Forest, County, City and Special District Fire Chiefs agree that there is no longer any non Fire Season in Southern California. "In Southern California we have experienced devastating wild land fires as late in the year as December, and as early as March," stated Chief Michael Mingee, President of the Fire Chiefs Association of Santa Barbara County. "We remain vigilant in our protection levels while realizing that potentials can be somewhat reduced after significant long term weather changes. This period is known as Low Fire Season," Stated the Chief.

 Agencies that allow for burning are still restricted by local ordinance and Air Pollution Control Districts.

2009-2010 Burn Permits

Effective immediately, the Fire Prevention Bureau of CSFD will being writing NEW burn permits for properties within the Fire District.  Old permits written last winter and spring expired on May 31, 2009, thus new permits will be required for the coming "burning season".  Permits issued will be good through May 31, 2010.  Contact the Prevention Bureau @ 684 4591
