Fire Chief Robert Kovach

Chief Kovach has spent his 39-year fire career serving the Santa Barbara County Area. He has proudly served the last 12 years as a Battalion Chief with the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District and was promoted to Fire Chief on October 1, 2023. 

Before joining the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Department, Chief Kovach spent 26 years with the Lompoc Fire Department, where he started his career as a Firefighter. 

He has been a Chief Officer for the last 25 years and brings an extensive and diverse fire management skill set. He holds a bachelor's degree in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University.
